Cut the Raw Banana into two pieces. Peel off the outer skin to the maximum extent possible. Now, cut the peeled pieces into small cubes.
Boil the cubes in water with ½ tsp Salt and ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder. Boil them so that the Banana Cubes get cooked just 20 percent i.e. they become little soft. Drain the water and keep the Banana cubes aside.
Heat the Oil in a pan. Add crushed Ginger and Garlic and cook for a minute in medium flame. Add Onion. Sauté till the Onion turns translucent. Add the Tomato plus Cilantro stem paste. Cook for 2 minutes. Add Salt, Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder, Pepper Powder, Fennel Powder & Cumin Seed Powder. Cook till the Oil starts separating. Add ¼ cup water. Mix well. Add the boiled Banana cubes. Mix well. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes covered with a lid. Mix well again and simmer another 2 minutes. Cook it dry. The Vazhakkai Masala Poriyal is ready.
