Tempered Idli powder idli or Malagai Podi Idli is one of the many variations in Idli preparation. This is a very simple breakfast recipe with minimum ingredients easily available in any kitchen. This recipe takes the ordinary Idli to another level of taste and aroma.
Idli – 8 or mini Idlis of 3 plates
Oil – 3 tbsp
Mustard / Rai – ¾ tsp
Black Gram Lentil – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – 2 strands (finely chopped)
Onion – 2 Nos (Finely chopped)
Green Chilli – 1
Idli Milagai Podi – 3 to 4 tbsp
Cut the Idlis into cubes. If mini Idlis are used, there is no need to cut them.
Heat 2 tbsp of Oil in a pan. Add Mustard. When it splutters, add Black Gram and Curry Leaves.
And in few seconds, add Onion and green Chillies. Sauté till the Onion becomes translucent.
Add Idlis and mix gently for a couple of minutes.
Sprinkle the Idli Milagai Podi little by little and mix.
In between, add the remaining oil gently stirring all the time.
Stir till the Idlis are coated with the Milagai Podi uniformly.
Serve it for breakfast or a quick lunch box fix.
