Paneer is a favorite for all my family members. And at least one dish per week contains Paneer as the main ingredient. Paneer is a bland ingredient. But, we add different ingredients to it to make it a very tasty dish. We will see how to make a spicy appetizer with Paneer here.
This Paneer 65 is a spicy, but irresistible dish.
Ingredients:
Paneer (Cottage Cheese) – 250 Gms
Corn Flour – 2 tsp
To marinate:
Corn Flour or Arrow Root Powder – 3 tbsp
Maida – 2 tbsp
Rice Flour – 2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – ¼ tsp
Chat Masala – ½ tsp
Beet Root Juice – 2 to 3 tsp (or Red Food Color – few drops)
Salt to taste
Water as required
Oil – for deep frying
Other ingredients:
Oil – 1 tbsp
Garlic – 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Green Chillies – 4 (sliced)
Curry Leaves – from 2 sprigs
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
Chilli Paste – 1 tsp
Beet Root Juice – 2 to 3 tsp
Yogurt – (Curd) – ¼ cup
Tomato Sauce – 1 ½ tbsp
Method:
Cut the Paneer into cubes. Sprinkle 2 tsp of Maida over the cubes. Toss them to coat the Paneer evenly with the Maida. Keep aside.
Take Corn Flour, Maida, Rice Flour, Ginger Garlic Paste, Chilli Powder, Salt and Chat Masala in a mixing bowl.
Add the 2 to 3 tsp of Beet Root juice or water. Mix well.
Add little water and mix again to make thick paste.
Add the Maida coated Paneer Cubes and mix gently to coat the Paneer Cubes evenly with the above marination.
Heat the Oil in a pan. Deep fry the Paneer Cubes in medium flame in batches till the Paneer Cubes turn golden Brown in color and become crispy.
Transfer them to a paper napkin so that excess Oil is absorbed by the napkins.
Heat one tbsp of Oil in a pan in medium flame.
Add the chopped Garlic and Green Chillies. Stir fry them for 40 to 50 seconds. Add Ginger Garlic Paste and Chilli Paste. Stir fry for few seconds. Add the Beet Root juice.
Mix well. Add ¼ cup of Yogurt and stir cook in low flame and simmer for a minute.
Add the Tomato paste.
Mix well. Add the fried Paneer Cubes and toss it gently till the Masala coats the Paneer Cubes evenly.
The tasty and spicy Paneer 65 is ready.
Note:
If you do not have the Chilli Paste, add a tsp of water to a tsp of Chilli powder , mix well and use it in place of Chilli Paste.
