Radish is used generally in Salads. Not many know that it can be used as the main ingredient to make very tasty dishes. It can also be used as an ingredient in making Parathas, Curries etc. This root vegetable is very rich in anti-oxidants and also contains minerals, vitamin and dietary fiber.
I tried preparing a stir fried dish with this Red Radish. And the result is that everyone at home keeps asking for this dish again and again 🙂

Garlic – 4 pods (crushed)
Green Chillies – 2 (sliced)

Turmeric Powder – 1 pinch

Wash and slice the Radish into thin circles. Keep aside
Heat the Oil in a pan. Add Mustard Seed and Cumin Seeds. Allow them to crackle. Add Curry Leaves, Onion, Salt and the crushed Garlic. Stir cook them for two minutes in medium flame.
Add the sliced Radish, Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder and Cumin Seed Powder and adjust Salt, if required.
Stir cook for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle 2 to 3 tbsp of water. Mix well.
Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes in low to medium flame stirring once a while. Cook till the Radish become tender. Transfer to a serving bowl.
This goes very well as an accompaniment with Curd Rice, Sambar Rice etc.
