Rava Toast is an easy to make breakfast toast which can also be served as an evening snack. Since it is a very easy recipe, you can make it on lazy Sunday mornings when you don’t want to spend too much time cooking.
Bread Slices – 6
Rawa (Semolina / Sooji) ¾ cup
Fresh Yogurt (Curd) – ½ cup (whisked)
Grated Carrot – 3 tbsp
Finely Chopped Capsicum – 3 tbsp
Finely Chopped Tomato – 3 tbsp
Grated Ginger or Ginger paste – ¼ tsp
Finely Chopped Small Onion – 1
Cilantro (Coriander Leaves) – 4 tbsp
Green Chillies – 2 (Finely Chopped)
Coarsely Crushed Pepper – ½ tsp
Salt – to suit one’s taste
Ghee or Butter – to toast the Bread
Take Semolina in a mixing bowl. Add all other ingredients except Bread and Ghee (or Butter). Mix them very well. The batter must be medium thick. If you feel that it is too thick, add one or two spoons of water or Milk or Yogurt and mix well and adjust the texture.
Spread the batter evenly on one side of the bread slices as a medium thick layer. Heat a pan or Tawa and drizzle some Ghee or Butter on it.
Reduce the flame to low medium flame and place the bread slices over the pan keeping the Rawa Vegetable mixture facing down.
Cook in low flame till the bottom side turns golden brown. Flip the slices.
Cook the other side in low flame till it turns crispy and golden brown. Cook in low flame else the spread would not cook well and remain soft.
Use Ghee or Butter for cooking both sides of the bread slices with the spread.
Transfer them to a plate. Cut them to desired shape. Serve with Tomato Ketchup or Green Chutney.
