Milagu Sadam falls in the category of fried rice. It is a good and quick option to prepare in the morning for your afternoon lunch box. If you have cooked rice stored in the refrigerator from the earlier lunch or dinner, it becomes much easier to prepare this Milagu Sadam. And it is also a healthy dish due to its green pepper content.
Boiled Rice – 1 bowl
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Black Gram – 1 tsp
Chana Dal – 1 tsp
Cashew Nuts – 8
Curry Leaves – from 2 twigs
Onion (Medium sized) – 2 (finely chopped)
Freshly Ground Pepper Powder – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Heat the oil in a pan. Add the Mustard Seeds, Bengal Gram, the Cashew Nuts, Channa Dal and the Curry Leaves. When the Mustard starts crackling and the Cashew Nuts turn golden brown, add the finely chopped Onion and Salt.
Sauté those till the Onion become translucent. Add the black Pepper Powder.
Stir cook for 30 to 40 seconds in low flame. Add the boiled rice. Stir it gently for a minute in low to medium flame.
The tasty Pepper Rice is ready.
