Guava Pickle is a very yummy pickle with an easy to make recipe. Guava is a very flavorful fruit and is rich in Vitamin A, C, Potassium and Calcium. This fruit is abundantly available after the monsoons till end of winter. I made many a recipe with this fruit. Guava Pickle is one such recipe.
Guava – 250 Gms (chopped to medium sized cubes)
Gingerly Oil – 4 tbsp
Mustard Seed – ¾ tsp
Curry Leaves – from 1 or 2 twigs
Red Chilli – 2 (brokeN0
Turmeric Powder – 1/8 tsp
Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Roasted Fenugreek Seed Powder – ¼ tsp
Red Chili Powder – 2 tsp
Salt – to taste.
Lemon Juice – 3 tbsp
Heat the Oil in a pan in medium flame. Add Mustard Seeds and allow them to crackle. Add the broken Red Chilli and stir for a few seconds. Add Curry Leaves and stir fry till they become crispy. Add Turmeric Powder, Asafoetida, Roasted Fenugreek Seed Powder and Red Chili Powder.
Stir them for a couple of seconds. And add the Guava Pieces.
Add Salt. Mix them well and stir cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Switch off the flame and leave the pan open for the pickle to cool.
When it cools down fully, sprinkle the Lemon Juice and mix well.
Transfer to a glass container and enjoy the pickle straightaway. This pickle can be stored in refrigerator for fifteen and twenty days. Take out the pickle with dry and fresh spoon only.
Enjoy with Rice, Roti etc.
