Ragi Uttappam is one of the many healthy south India Breakfast dish. It is quick, easy and delicious all at the same time. You can also make this as a quick dish for a busy weekday lunch or dinner.
Idli or Dosa Batter – ¾ cup
Finger Millet / Ragi / Nachni – 1 ½ cup
Finely Chopped Carrot – ¼ cup
Finely Chopped Tomato – 3 tbsp
Finely Chopped Onion – ¼ cup
Green Chillies – 2 (Finely Chopped)
Finely Chopped Cilantro – 3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil – as required
Combine Idli or Dosa batter and Finger Millet in a mixing bowl. Add required water and Salt, mix well and make a smooth batter. The batter must be neither too thick nor too thin.
Take the finely chopped Carrots, Tomato, Onion, Green Chilli, Cilantro and a pinch of Salt in a bowl. Combine them well.
Spread little Oil on a hot Tawa and wipe with a tissue. Pour a ladle of prepared batter. Spread it evenly into a circular shape. Top it with Carrot, Onion mix and gently press with a spatula.
Pour some Oil on the sides of the Uttappam. Cover it with lid. Cook in low heat till the Uttappam is cooked well.
Remove the lid, sprinkle some oil on top of the Uttappam. Flip the Uttappam and cook the other side.
When both the sides are cooked, serve it hot with some chutney.
