The general quick fix breakfast recipe is to make a bread toast or a similar bread preparation. We make such bread dishes for packing the tiffin boxes for children as snacks during their school recess. But, there are endless dishes which can be made with the simple bread. Great Sandwiches with endless variation in making them ends up as a great breakfast as well as fast food. Let us make a crispy Chilli Bread for those who like spicy food.
Bread Slices – 4 (white or Brown Bread)
Olive Oil – 2 tbsp
Finely chopped Garlic – 1 tsp
Green Chillies – 2 (finely chopped)
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Medium Sized Tomato -2 (finely chopped)
Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
Salt – to suit one’s taste
Finely chopped Capsicum – ¼ cup
Finely chopped Spring Onion Greens – 2 tbsp
Red Chilli Sauce – 1 tsp
Tomato Sauce – 1 tbsp
Soya Sauce – 1 tsp
Trim the edges of the bread slices and discard. Cut the bread into small cubes. Heat the Oil in a pan. Roast the bread cubes in it in low medium flame till they turn crispy. Keep aside.
In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp of Oil. Add Garlic and Green Chillies. Sauté in medium flame for a minute. Add Onions and cook them till the Onion becomes translucent.
Add the Tomato, cook for a couple of minutes. Add Salt and Red Chilli Powder. Cook till the Tomatoes turn mushy.
Add the Capsicum and Spring Onion Greens. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add Red Chilli Sauce, Tomato Sauce and Soya Sauce. Add 2 tbsp of water and mix well.
Add the crispy Bread pieces and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes. The bread pieces should be coated with the masala evenly.
Remove from the pan and serve hot.
