Coconut Ladoo

Coconut Ladoo

Coconut Ladoo is a traditional sweet dish – in every region in India. It is a soft and delicious sweet – prepared generally during festive occasions. This Coconut Ladoo is prepared with scrapped Coconut as the main ingredient. There are other Ladoos also which we have already posted and more to come in eth coming days. This sweet dish is very easy to make with very few ingredients. Try it, you will love it.  

Ingredients:

Ghee – 1 tbsp

Grated Fresh Coconut – 2 cups

Milk – 1 ½ cup

Sugar – 3/4 cup

Broken Cashew Nuts – 1 tbsp

Raisins – 1 tbsp

Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder – ¼ tsp

Desiccated Coconut – for coating the Ladoos (Optional)

Method:

Heat 1 tbsp of Ghee in a pan. Roast the Cashew Nuts for a minute in it in low medium flame. Add Resins and roast for few seconds. Transfer to a plate and keep aside.

Roast the grated Coconut in the same pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the Sugar and milk. (You can increase the quantity of Sugar if you prefer). Mix well. Cook in medium flame. In around 12 to 15 minutes, the liquid will start thickening. Add the Cardamom powder. And in another few seconds, the Coconut becomes completely dry and crumbled. Add the roasted Cashews and Resins.  Switch off the flame and allow the Ladoo mixture to rest for few minutes.  Once it attains a temperature to touch, start making balls from the mixture. Roll each ball in desiccated Coconut. The size of the balls is as per your preference.

The tasty Coconut Ladoo is ready. You can store them in air tight containers for about a week and use.
